Fire Flow

Series Focus: Stabilizing Glutes and Core

Fire Flow explores our edges within a supportive community. Sequencing is created around particular asana (postures) which challenge our strength, flexibility and balance. Each series explores a different theme— binds, upper body strength, inversions, etc. You’ll be reminded to return to your breath and explore what thoughts emerge in effortful moments. Let asana guide you to more deeply understanding yourself, and more deeply engaging with our physical bodies. Some prior asana experience will be needed.

Yoga for Trauma

Please join us for an hour long practice of yoga for trauma. Through yoga asana, we explore movement that feels good, okay, or “less bad” in our bodies. Through breathing techniques and meditation, we maintain a healthy nervous system. This class is designed to help relieve the effects of trauma, stress, depression and anxiety. Many of these practices help restore a sense of agency and being “safe enough” in our bodies. You can choose your own adventure and take the practice at your own pace. We aim to leave the space feeling more centered, relaxed, and present. Rest and breaks are encouraged, and you can always leave the space if you need to.

Inward Bound: A Journey Within

For those of us navigating the aftermath of trauma, delving into our inner landscapes can feel daunting. Many of us have learned to keep our physical and emotional selves at a distance. Yet, in a world urging us to neglect our needs and shrink ourselves, embracing a practice of attentive presence becomes an act of defiance. Pranayama practices teach us to tune into the flow of our own subtle energy, and to gently manage that energy through breath, meditation, and more. As we build healthy nervous systems, we’ll discover more capacity to be with our full range of our experiences.

The Art of Rest

The Art of Rest

We think of “rest” as something that either happens to us, or doesn’t happen to us. In this series, we’ll explore rest as an intentional practice and an art. For queer folks in particular, much of the discrimination we face is directed towards our physical bodies– how they look, and what we do with them. This lived reality can lead to a sense of hypervigilance and “guarding” within our bodies, which can be hard to release. Through this series, we’ll learn how to deeply listen and respond to our body’s desires, how to intentionally practice rest, and how to be in alignment with the changing seasons.

Surviving and Thriving through the Holidays

For many of us, the holidays can be a tumultuous time. They can elicit grief, anxiety, challenging family dynamics, or feelings of isolation. Rather than managing these experiences alone, this series invites us to move through it all within community. See what it’s like to prepare for the holidays by tending to yourself alongside others.

Together, we will explore ways to compassionately hold our experiences and feelings. We’ll find “safe enough” ways to connect with our bodies through movement, and learn to regulate our nervous systems. We’ll create a map to guide us through our unique circumstances, and set healthy boundaries. Finally, we’ll practice finding “okayness” in times of stress. (Maybe even ease and nourishment!)

Be Queer Now: Pranayama for Inner Intimacy

For queer folks who have experienced trauma, our inner world can be an intimidating place to explore. Many of us keep our bodily and emotional experiences at arm's length. Slowing down and listening to our bodies is a practice of resistance in a world asking us to ignore our needs and stay small. Pranayama practices teach us to tune into the flow of our own energy, and to gently manage that energy through breath, meditation, and more. As we build healthy nervous systems, we’ll find more capacity to be with our full range of our experiences.
