Yoga for Mental Health Support

During Mental Health Awareness Month, let’s practice yoga as a form of mental health care. Experiment with ways to tend to yourself and your communities in times of stress. We’ll learn about our nervous system, and about how movement and breath can support its health. We’ll orient towards moments of being “safe enough” and “okay enough.” Over time, these practices can allow us to live in a more regulated and present state.

Through a consistent yoga practice, you might find mental health benefits like:

  • Stress Reduction: Yoga promotes relaxation and helps reduce levels of the stress hormone cortisol, leading to a calmer mind and body.

  • Better Sleep Quality: Practicing yoga can improve sleep patterns by promoting relaxation and reducing insomnia symptoms, leading to more restful and rejuvenating sleep.

  • Sense of Community and Support: Engaging in yoga classes fosters a sense of belonging and community, providing social support and opportunities for connection with others, which can contribute to improved mental health and well-being.

Let this class serve as your entry (or re-entry) to yoga as a form of mental health support. This slow paced class will incorporate asana, pranayama, and rest. These practices are trauma informed.

Classes will take place virtually on Zoom. Participants are welcome to turn their video off if that makes them more comfortable.

Tiered pricing is available. Please pay what is appropriate for you right now. Anyone who is interested in a scholarship for free classes, please email us directly. No one will be turned away for an inability to pay.
